Regular wellness visits are an essential part of women’s health care. All women over the age of 21 should have regular well woman exams to screen for breast cancer and cervical cancer. Dr. Burke also offers screening tests for Sexually Transmitted Illnesses (STIs/STDs) and counseling on contraception and family planning. She is also able to order screening and diagnostic mammography and ultrasounds.

Natural Treatments for HPV and Abnormal PAPs

What is HPV?

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI/STD) in the United States; in fact most people will be exposed to HPV at some point in their lifetime. The majority of HPV infections occur without any symptoms. Most infections resolve on their own within a period of two years and don’t cause any long-term health issues. However, persistent infection with some strains of HPV can cause genital warts or even cancer. The high risk-strains of HPV that cause cancer are usually symptom-free, which is why regular cervical cancer screenings with a PAP smear are so important!

Natural Treatments to Resolve HPV and Cervical Dysplasia

For women who have had an abnormal PAP (i.e. Cervical Dysplasis) there are many treatment options available depending on the severity of the abnormalities. Dr. Burke is dedicated to supporting women with abnormal PAPs and she will work with you and your Gynecologist to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. This may include natural immune-support to help your body fight the HPV infection and reduce your risk of developing cervical cancer.
